By my own definition, "Autism is where the 'randomness of life,' collides and clashes with an individual's need for sameness."

The conflict of two cultures living side by side in the same household created a struggle to gain control over of the environment, the ensuing chaos deconstructed our family unit. There was so much more to the story of The Girl Who Spoke With Pictures, that I needed to write a companion book to more fully complete the setting of our family, our journey of autism and the strategies that we used for change.

This is not your gentle autism story, nor is it a sensationalized version of an autism journey but rather a realistic view of one family's transformation from being pleasantly functional to stressful and in utter disarray.
The process of learning began when we found we could live this way no longer and needed help from professionals. Combining our resources along with keen observation and willingness to work together for the benefit of the child, we teamed up to provide a well oiled program tailored to my daughter's needs.

When we as parents feel our back is against the wall we have no more resources left, there are "strategies for change, because the alternative is unacceptable."
